St. Augustine’s high quality of life has landed it in the No. 5 spot on WalletHub’s list of “Best Beach Towns to Live in.”
The list was released Wednesday.

Rankings were based on WalletHub’s comparison of 205 cities across 58 key indicators of livability. The dataset ranges from housing costs to share of for-sale waterfront homes to the quality of beach water.

Each town was also ranked in the subcategories of affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life.

St. Augustine’s highest rating came in quality of life, where it ranked No. 3 overall. Its worst ranking was 103 in safety and was also dinged for its high cost of housing with a No. 90 ranking in affordability.

Among the strong indicators in St. Augustine’s favor were its high number of restaurants, nightlife establishments and coffee shops per capita.

Lahaina, Hawaii, was the top town on the list, followed by Naples and Sarasota.
